Week 2 - still going strong!

Hello all! Some of you are receiving this for the first time because I was "reprimanded" for not including those of you who live close in the emails. I guess you do want to see the pictures and show them off at work :-)

This week was a thaw out. Amazingly all of the TV stations were talking about the risk of flooding....where did they think all of the snow was going to go??? We still haven't ventured far as it is wet everywhere and very soggy in what grass you can see.

Carson has been working on counting. It sounds something like this "one, two, free, five, eight, nine, ten, free." He was counting football players the other day, there were only "free," so he was able to do it flawlessly! He is so proud of himself after he counts that you just have to laugh. He also managed to get our attention by saying "Elmo tup, see it Daddy." That was his first "complete" sentence.

Delaney is very into drawing this week. It started on Valentine's Day when we made pictures for Matt and hung them up by the kitchen table. This week she was into drawing people. I will attach the drawing of Meemo to this email.....I was impressed. I taught kindergarten and I had children draw the same thing as a self portrait on the first day of school.

Matt and I are still boring. We did buy (and Matt hung) a cabinet above our washer and dryer. I didn't realize it could make me feel so organized, but it has. Now, if only I could magically make a pantry appear......

Love to you all,
Gretchen

Dillard Discoveries

Delaney is a panty wearing princess! She wants "everything pink." She desperately wants her room to be painted pink, we'll have to see about that. She talks a mile a minute about anything and everything. I love it. We have wonderful "conversations" about life. Lately it has mostly been about the snow and her play food in her kitchen. I bought some plastic drawers last night at Walmart to store the play food and dishes in and you would think I bought her a diamond necklace. That is ALL she has played with today.

Carson is a boy!! He loves to climb and has no fears. He spends all day with two girls that talk nonstop, so he is learning to join in. We are able to understand more and more of his jabberings everyday. The other day he said hippopotamus, didn't quite sound like that, but you could tell that was what it was supposed to be. He is a big time cuddler (which I LOVE). He has to cuddle when he first gets out of bed, both morning and afternoon.

As for Matt and myself, well, we are pretty boring. I have been snowbound all week. I don't like to drive in the snow and I can't get two kids in and out of the car fast enough to make it worthwhile to go anywhere. I have completely redecorated our kitchen (in my head) and will be working on bringing it to life during the next month or so. It requires purchasing some new curtains, rugs, towels, paint, etc...., so we are going to go about it slowly so as to not break the bank. I'll keep you posted and maybe even send before and after pictures :-)
